Celebrating Youth Ingenuity, Innovations, Research and Entrepreneurship of DiscoverSTEM Students

DiscoverSTEM Innovation Day 2025 was a remarkable celebration of young minds, showcasing their innovations, research, and entrepreneurial skills. Students who secured patents for their inventions were honored with a patent certificate, marking a milestone achievement in their journey of innovation.

Adding to this year’s prestige, the Texas State Capitol honored DiscoverSTEM and its young innovators in March 2025 with an official House Resolution #403, recognizing their profound impact on shaping future leaders. Each student was invited on stage and presented with a personalized letter from the Capitol, making it a once-in-a-lifetime recognition.

The highlight of the event was the Grand Finale of Top Young Innovators 2025, where the most promising student innovators took center stage. Their visionary work, bold thinking, and relentless pursuit of solutions for a better world were celebrated with great honor.

Each innovation highlighted DiscoverSTEM’s mission to inspire, mentor, and empower the next generation of changemakers. To close the day on an exciting note, the Innovation Quiz 2025 challenged participants with thought-provoking questions and rewarded winners with exclusive Apple merchandise, turning the event into a perfect blend of learning, recognition, and inspiration.

The DiscoverSTEM Innovation Day 2025 event featured the Grand Finale of America’s Top Young Innovators 2025, a celebration of young visionaries pushing the boundaries of science, technology, and innovation. From across the nation, students showcased groundbreaking ideas with the power to shape a healthier, smarter, and more sustainable future.

Among the standout participants was Arjun Kommidi, who earned the coveted title of America’s Top Young Innovator 2025. Arjun was recognized for his remarkable contributions and his leadership as Chief Technology Officer in launching an app designed to record and report the mental, emotional, behavioral, and intellectual well-being of teenagers. His work represents a bold, practical, and forward-looking approach to addressing some of the most urgent mental health challenges facing today’s youth.

Best Innovation in Neurotechnology & Brain-Computer Interface

Taheea Ahmed was honored for her groundbreaking research on the effects of short-form media consumption on attention and focus. Her work provides valuable insights into the impact of digital habits on cognitive health, opening new pathways for understanding and improving attention in an age of constant screen engagement.

Aayan Ali received recognition for developing a powerful algorithm that enables space debris cleaning systems in orbit to automatically align toward target debris. His innovation marks a vital step forward in tackling one of the greatest sustainability challenges in space exploration.

Ashaz Haque and Hadiya Sameen were jointly awarded for developing the AI algorithm behind the MYLIN app, a groundbreaking tool designed to record and report the mental, emotional, behavioral, and intellectual well-being of teenagers. Their innovation highlights how AI can be harnessed for proactive mental health support in young people.

Aryaanshi Sundaram was recognized for her outstanding research in Green AI, using a comparative study of different LLM and SLM models. Her work contributes to making artificial intelligence more energy-efficient and sustainable, addressing one of the biggest challenges in the field.

Gabriele Hiruedhay earned the award for his pioneering innovation to predict and prevent knee injuries in sports. By integrating advanced predictive analytics, his work has the potential to safeguard athletes’ health and extend their professional careers.

Ayush Veer Davuluri was recognized for creating an AI-powered robotic system capable of tracking, monitoring, and predicting termite and other pest activity. This transformative approach to pest management combines robotics with AI to offer a proactive and scalable solution for property protection.

I am a 14-year-old freshman attending Brighter Horizons Academy in Garland, Texas. I have extensive experience with marketing, as I have been a part of various companies and mentorships. I graduated from the DiscoverStem program, allowing new doors to open up for me, and change the way I see things. The DiscoverStem program has also given me more experience with concepts such as patents, invention, and innovation, as well as inspiration to use these skills to help the world around us.

DiscoverSTEM founders Mirza Rizwan and Mirza Faizan have made history by becoming the first Indian to win the coveted George Washington Honor Medal from the Freedoms Foundation – USA.

Started in 1949 by former US President Dwight D. Eisenhower, Freedoms Foundation honors exceptional contributions of Americans towards communities in the USA. Generally reserved for the US citizens, the awarding organization made an exception to recognize the stellar research work and its impact of India’s Mr. Rizwan in designing and implementing a unique STEM & Innovation program for American children, thereby revolutionizing the education system in the USA.

Few of the other notable non-US citizens who have received George Washington Honor Medal include Ms. Margaret Thatcher (Former Prime Minister of United Kingdom), Lech Walesa (Former President of Poland and Noble Prize winner) and world-renowned Russian writer Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. As the latest recipients of this prestigious honor, Mirza brothers join historically acclaimed group of citizens whose work and dedication advance the American ideals, the award letter says.

Some of the distinguished US citizens who have received this award for their stellar contributions in their field are Walt Disney, Astronauts Sally Ride and John Glenn, Capt. Sully Sullenberger, Athletes like Arthur Ashe, George Foreman and Tiger Woods and famous US educator Jaime Escalante.
